I’m not new to fora, but this one is a tricky one: I want to track categories and tags – which I understood to be like a filter, shortcut to the topics I’m interested in. But I keep getting individual emails for each post.
How do I just keep it within the forum? As a filter of sorts, whenever I go into the forum? Or, at the very least, can I switch to a daily/weekly digest of new messages?
I’d appreciate any help with this. Thanks!
If I’m understanding correctly, you want to create a custom feed of sorts, containing only specific categories? As far as I’m aware, that’s not possible within Discourse, though selecting “Tracking” for the category and then going to the “Unread” tab would be the closest way to emulate it.
If you’re getting notifications, it sounds like you’re “watching” the category rather than “tracking” it (they’re separate things in Discourse). If you changed from “Watching” to “Tracking” a category, that does not recursively apply to the threads that had automatically been marked “Watching” so you would need to manually un-watch each thread to stop getting notifications about it (you may be able to un-watch them in bulk from the unread tab by clicking the dismiss button and checking the box that pops up)
Oy. Thanks for the explanation. That’s one complicated thing here. (Didn’t know it was Discourse, now I know why so many don’t like that platform. Give me a phpBB forum any day!)
