Is it necessary to connect DP cable to Graphics Module directly?

I am using a Framework 16 with Arch Linux installed on it. I purchased the AMD Radeon RX 7700S Graphics Module and would like to take full advantage of it. Is it necessary to connect my DP extension cartridge to the sole port of the Graphics Module to use the discrete GPU, or does using any of the other supported ports lead to the same result anyway?

The other ports are physically connected to the iGPU only.

The OS can use the dGPU for almost all of the GPU work but hand it off to the iGPU for handling display output. That allows it to use the dGPU with the side ports, but incurs a moderate performance penalty (~5-10%) compared to using the port on the graphics module directly.
