Is my GPU / Mainboard going bad?

Hi,

I’m on a FW13 with the latest BIOS / Drivers ( Framework Laptop BIOS and Driver Releases (11th Gen Intel® Core™))

I purchased a [larger] replacement battery, and ever since – doubt it’s related, but the timing is truly impeccable – have severe graphics glitches, which almost entirely occur when using split screen in windows.

  • I tried reseating the display cable.
  • If/When they happen in split screen, switching to full almost always fixes it. (The attached picture is an exception.)
  • Sometimes the entire screen turns static-glitchy.
  • Because it was limited almost 99% to split screen, I updated the bios and drivers, but it keeps happening.
  • I plugged in an external monitor, the glitches only happen on the laptop.
  • If it posts, here’s a link of a short video showing some of the glitches: sad framework (youtube.com)

Time to buy a new mainboard/gpu? Maybe I somehow installed drivers incorrectly? I can’t see how I knocked loose anything when installing the new battery, and the display connection looks fine to my eye.

Thanks.

p.s. It’s been a run of bad luck with this laptop and display artifacts, a new one would be my third, so maybe it’s been the mainboard/gpu the entire time. What do I know?

There are quite a few similar screen blanked areas, usually vertical, search for those etc.

Thanks – areas, you mean posts? This seems to be similar enough to explore: Random Screen Blanking in Windows - Framework Laptop 13 - Framework Community

I’ll try the panel refresh off and search further for posts. Blanking isn’t quite what’s happening to mine though, unless the term means something than what it sounds like.

Appreciate the response.

No I meant areas of the screen
