Mainboard specs page?

Is there a page somewhere that lists specs of a given mainboard?

Stuff like chipset, number of RAM slots, m.2 slots, what they support etc. Marketplace page contains almost none of it.

I know that the knowledge base has info on which RAM and storage devices are supported, but it’s scattered across multiple pages and it’s not very easy to get an overview of what a specific mainboard is capable of.

I don’t think there’s a single page with everything listed like that. Generally, the specs page for the individual laptops are a good place to find all the info for a specific generation. At least, for the currently available ones.

All FW 13 boards have two RAM slots and a single M.2 SSD slot. The AMD boards and the latest Intel Core Ultra boards support DDR5 RAM. All other Intel boards (11th, 12th, 13th gen) support DDR4. I believe the 12th and 13th gen Intel boards support Thunderbolt with the latest BIOS. I can’t remember about the 11th gen. The Core Ultra boards only currently list USB4 support. It’s possible thunderbolt will be added via BIOS updates later (or maybe already has), but I don’t know. The AMD boards support USB 4 on two ports.

The FW 16 boards are only available in AMD presently. They have two RAM slots (DDR5), one 2280 M.2 SSD slot and one 2230 M.2 SSD slot. Two of the USB-C ports support USB 4.

I know that’s not exactly comprehensive, but it’s a start.

Afaik Framework doesn’t have a centralized place to view the specs of all mainboards. Framewiki is unofficial but has useful info.

Modern processors can function without a PCH chipset. Modern PCH chipsets are glorified PCIe switches with some USB and/or SATA controllers.

Current Framework laptops don’t have PCH chipsets. Prior models (11th, 12th, and 13th gen Intel) did but it was only used for a couple things (Wi-Fi card, fingerprint sensor, camera, etc).

2 on all models.

Current models use DDR5 5600 MT/s SODIMM, prior models (11th, 12th, and 13th gen Intel) used DDR4 3200 MT/s SODIMM.

All models have a 2280 M.2 slot supporting PCIe 4.0 x4. The FWL16 adds an additional 2230 M.2 slot, also supporting PCIe 4.0 x4.
