I recently bought the Framework 16 and have been enjoying it so far however I have noticed that while charging the system is thermal throttling.
The system will begin to lag and actions will get progressively slower. Looking at HWinfo its showing it as thermal throttling however CPU temps are no higher than 45 Celsius.
I believe the battery or the main board are overheating and triggering Prochet however the fans dont seem to be pushing much air out of the laptop probably because the CPU isnt overheating.
I don’t have the dGPU and am using a 140W charger. Is there a way to adjust the fans manually so they come on sooner/at a higher RPM?
You should put in a ticket with support about the issue you are having. They are best equipped to help diagnose what is going on and would be able to setup any RMA or repair if necessary.
There is no easy way to adjust the fan speed curve. If you want to force more air across it you could try putting a hair dryer (with no heat or course) against the inlet on the underside of the laptop.
Not all chargers provide the same output and some even negotiate differently over USBC. To help isolate a charging issue. Try plugging in a known good quality 30w or 60w charger.
It will be enough to charge the Framework Laptop 16 but does so at standards that have been well established. Higher wattage chargers have to use cable with marker chips in them and they are not all created equal. If the issues persist then it likely is not related to your charger and would be something with the laptop side of things. Again this is part of the reason support is the best resource to help walk through the steps to figure out what the root cause(s) are to the issues. Let us know how it turns out.
