I’m not sure how viable this would be since I don’t have much experience with hardware but I was wondering if it is possible to make expansion cards that work as power banks. So you would be able to charge the battery via USB-C and inserting it into the expansion card port would charge the laptop. Even if they can’t hold a lot of charge you can always just bring multiple batteries for trips. Alternatively, are hot-swappable batteries going to be considered?
This was answered in another thread which I can’t find at the moment, but the issue is the expansion card is too small to put a battery in that would have any meaningful impact on running time.
I’d love to see a bigger battery that would lift the back of the laptop up, kind of like you can get for some ThinkPad models (i.e. https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/9hqb7w/t480_external_batteries/ )
I’d easily give up two of my expansion ports for an extra few hours of battery life! It seems like such a battery would block the bottom fans a little too much, though.
