I been on windows 11 pro for while now on my A16 and been i wonder what’s its like on Linux, so I am here to ask you guys, the framework community for any recommendations on distros good on beginners familiar with some linux distros but so good at gaming like on steam and is very compatible with software that’s from windows too / games also. and not or is similar to windows too.
Try this:
If you just want to game: Bazzite. For a more general distro: the upcoming version of Linux Mint (I would recommend the Debian Edition).
The distro doesn’t matter as much as you think. At the end of the day you get (more or less) the same kernel and same driver. If you want to run windows software, you use wine - but wine on Ubuntu is the same as wine on Fedora or whatever.
Some distros pre-select stuff like nvidia drivers, but that usually just saves you a few clicks compared to a distro that doesn’t. After it’s installed it doesn’t matter anymore.
Some distros will get you updates faster than others, but that will also rarely really matter.
Pick one that is both popular (thus gets a lot of attention and people already wrote comments about solving some problems) and you like the look of it (because it ends up mostly being personal preference).
The distrochooser was already mentioned above - that should help you.
But also be careful with your expectations. Some DEs are made to look similar to Windows or have themes that look like Windows and wine can run a lot of Windows software.
But Linux is not Windows and either you embrace that or you will continuously run in to walls.
These articles might help: 11 Best Linux Gaming Distributions in 2025 and https://www.zdnet.com/article/the-6-linux-distros-i-recommend-most-for-gaming-in-2025-including-my-favorite/ (two sources I’ve come to trust for Linux info over the years).
Some general advice for a newbie, try to stick with a distro that is supported by Framework, you will have greater depth and breath of support as you come up to speed with Linux. Next best would be one of the [Framework] community supported distros.

I have installed bazzite to try it and it works well and all but i can play any steam games like i installl the game and when i play it 5 seconds later it just quits
Thanks ima try linx mint. Zorin OS and continue testing out bazzite
FWIW I used Ubuntu for a VERY long time. A couple years ago I moved to Fedora, and have had no intention of moving back.
Bazzite is an atomic OS, for similar use cases, I recommend Nobara. It is actually developed by the developer of Proton-GE.
ima try out Nobara, but i have tried bazzite and its pretty cool but i could not found out how ot see if my amd 7700s drivers were installed and the cant launch any steam games issue, so i switched to Zorin OS and it very clean and similar to windows kinda
