Remote power on options (docks etc.)

If that would work it wouldn’t really be a problem in the first place, because you could just use your regular external keyboard.

Update!

I still use the dock but not for power. I use the FW16 power brick in the expansion card closest to the screen and plug the dock into the middle expansion card. Because my dock limits the screen to 60 htz I use a C to DP cable that plugs into the EGPU and my 49" screen.

I have placed an on/off switch on a 5’ lead between the power brick and the power source. I can press on and off from my chair and never touch the FW16 which I keep in a stand in a tent configuration for better cooling. I have the on/off switch on my desk next to my mouse.

Once I have everything in place I don’t need to touch the FW16. I shut down in Windows and then switch the power to the brick off. When I’m ready to start I just activate the power to the brick and since I have start on power activated in the bios the FW16 boots immediately. Based on a program I have running less than 20 second from power on to sign on screen. My FW13 averages around 50.

I can leave the actual dock power on if i want or power it down but it doesn’t affect the set-up since it not connected the back expansion slots which power the FW16.
