Screen flickers when exiting full screen video or applications

When i exit a full screen app the screen will flicker white and be essentailly useless
dmesg syslogs have this repeated:

Does anyone have insight to what i should be looking for? My google-fu led me down a few rabbit holes but i dont want to chase red herrings

  • Which OS (Operating System)? Pop_OS 22.04 LTS
  • Which Framework laptop (11th, 12th or 13th generation Framework laptop) are you asking for support with? Framework 13 AMD Ryzen 7 32gb DDR5 latest available bios

I see - but POP doesnt use grub/grubby at least not without using legacy, I’d need to use kernelstub (I think? this will be a learning journey or me as well) so i’d need to find a way to pass that argument to my kernel.

are you aware of what the argument would be?

testing this argument:
sudo kernelstub -o “amdgpu.sg_display=0”

ill report back in a couple days if this resolves.

documenting in case it helps anyone else

Anyone following this has not happened again
but i did lose the GUI part of decrypting my drive. i have to put PW into CLI - not system breaking, but not as pretty. unsure if this caused it or my other attempts to resolve this issue caused it.

retract my statment. it happens now if i disconnect a display/dock.
