Screwdriver expansion card

I just had to partially disassemble mine again…

And got reminded these screws aren’t extremely tight.

The smaller handle shouldn’t be a problem after all…

A wingnut that the tip attaches to would be sufficient.

Would end up looking like the winding crank on an old music box…

Could accept any socket tips, too.

No framework or framework screwdriver here’s either- but I do happen to own a screwdriver that uses 30mm x 4mm hex double sided bits. only a 7 minute print and since it’ll be helpful to get into small corners and such, even if the handle on the screwdriver does have a similar doohickey in the handle- figured i’d give it a go to test.
Works great- full length is just under 35mm

I really like this [bit holder + USB-C pass-through] idea!

To avoid needing to open it up for bit storage though, it could be seated in a carriage (parallel to pass-through PCB) that’s slideable from the outside? i.e. so it’s in the corner, but protrudes out of the face with the USB-C socket.

Working on this with USB C passthrough.

take my money dot gif.

Now I just wonder if there’s such a thing as a hex attachment that ends in a spudger, then I’m all set

I’d still love one of these and would be willing to pay for it (e.g. Snackdrawer). I travel quite a bit and it would be nice to have the screwdriver available if I needed it.

Fully functioning USB C port, with storage and a screwdriver port

Note that I have not tested this, it should work in theory but take precautions with your device. I will update when it is tested.

I haven’t got the USB C passthrough part but this is it in screwdriver mode (the bit is really tight)

Don’t mind the imperfections, this is my first prototypes. The storage slot works but I need to make the bit looser and add a cap.

I missed the existence of this thread! These cards are amazing. Screwdriver kit is also on our internal wishlist of Expansion Cards, so we can check that one off!

I’m curious what other expansion cards are on the internal wishlist? Is there a list anywhere that we could see?

@nrp Have you done any testing on the strength of the rails, as I’m planning on using it with an amount of weight on the rails?

Bookmarked! Would purchase in a heartbeat if offered through the market place.

This should become the standard design for all C modules.

@Josh_Cook Have you made any findings on that since? I’m also curious about the robustness of the rails for an adapter I have in mind that should hold the weight and the forces that are exerted by a suspended power bank…

I offered to buy one of these a year ago. Offer still stands.

My friend Ben jumped in on this one and finished the project for me.

The card holds the bit for the Framework screwdriver along with a magnetized socket. Take the two parts out, slip them together, and voila!

I’ll post the design when he sends it to me.

Ben says “Now to see how many people actually try and print one. I realized it has a little bit of a protrusion that I’ll fix and upload a new version tomorrow” which was yesterday, so it’s probably fixed.

Anyway, pretty darned small protrusion if you ask me.

I’d buy two of these in a heartbeat
The GitHub repository no longer exists :c

This is awesome! I’m going to print it in silver glitter - it’s the closest I have to the Framework laptop body. I’ll be sure to post here and on Printables.

Oh and I will try the magnet: https://www.amazon.ca/Entemah-Refrigerator-Magnets-Whiteboard-Billboard/dp/B09WZYN4TD

I’ll let Ben know.
