[SOLVED] Framework boots, but display remains black/illuminated

Hello,

after working flawlessly for quite some time, my Framework (BIOS 3.05) now still boots without any indication of problems, except that the display stays black. It does however change illumination depending on the boot step (full illumination until the display manager is coming up, then I can even control it).

At the time of the last working state, nothing special was happening - I did not tinker with the hardware, I put it into standby after simply browsing the web for a bit. There was nothing connected to it at that time and also nothing was connected when I tried to wake it up again. I am especially certain that the display did not get damaged during standby time, as the Framework was safely stored inside my otherwise empty backpack that just sat on the ground.

When I connect my HDMI module, I can see in the external monitor that my OS correctly recognizes the internal display; however, no change in resolution or display configuration brings it back to life.

I am pretty sure that there are no LED error codes present.

What i tried:

  • BIOS-reset via “Push Chassis intrusion switch for 2s 10 times” method – I am uncertain that this did work, as there is no indication of it.
  • EC-reset via “hold power button for 20+ seconds” method – also no change and also uncertain of it working.
  • Removing all modules, adding/removing the HDMI module.
  • Re-seating the display connector on the mainboard.

I would like to know if I missed any problem solving steps before contacting support. I tried searching, but can only find “first boot issues”…

Thank you very much in advance!

Check also the connector on back of the display panel if it has come loose

SOLVED!

Thank you so much! For some reason, I thought that the cable was soldered directly to the display unit.

After following the display replacement guide, I saw that the connector was ½mm off on ome side. gently pushed it in, reassembled, and everything is working again.

Again, thank you very much
