Undoing the RTC fix for standalone use

I’m currently converting my 11th-gen mainboard to a standalone server in the CoolerMaster case.

I had previously applied the RTC battery fix, soldering and cutting the mainboard.
However, now that there is no more main battery, each power disconnect resets all the BIOS settings, which is very inconvenient, especially because I use the “start when power plugged” setting (which is never applied because immediately forgotten).

So I’d like to revert the RTC fix. Do I need to “repair” the PCB trace that was cut? Or is it enough to just remove the fake-RTC and put back the real RTC?

EDIT: I never cut the trace, actually. I got all mixed up by reading the previous version of the fix now, and not remembering properly what I had actually done.

You should be able to just desolder the RTC fix, remove it, and install a normal coin-cell battery (lithium based and rechargeable).

A desoldering gun would be best, to keep you from applying heat to the components for an excessive amount of time.

Thanks!
I was also thinking of cuting the two wires and interposing mcpx connectors, so that I can redo the fix any time.
