What’s the FW16 doing with “extra” power?

So I have my laptop bios setting for max battery charge to be 70%.
Also I enjoy using the “framework control” app that someone in the community created (I should go find a link to it).
I happend to enable the max charge setting in there and it was set to 100% then toggled it off again then later turned the machine off.

When I powered the machine back on the next day it was at 100% charge, max charge said it was set to 70% (which is what I wanted).

Now what I found odd was I was thinking the machine would just let it slowly drain down to 70% by not charging.

However the machine was doing something to actively bring the power down in 30m went from 100 to 70% and while doing this frame rates in games was terrible (10fps)

So what was it doing while this was happening?
Mining bitcoins while it had extra power? Lol

When the battery is at or below the set charge limit, your computer will use AC first, then use AC and battery if peak load is higher than AC power.

When the battery is above the set charge limit, your computer will use battery only, it doesn’t use AC at all when the load is higher than the battery can provide.

Right… yup makes sense… I guess I figured it would still draw on AC for additional power if it was needed to maintain performance.

Like @Charlie_6 said it probably acts like it’s on battery until it reaches that point. I’ve never tested it myself. I usually unplug mine till I reach my set % or lower.

Also, that’s so last gen! It’s running AI now! :rofl:
