Zorin OS 64-bit installation

Has anyone been able to install Zorin OS on a Framework laptop? I installed UBUNTU as s a initial OS but now I would like to switch over to Zorin OS. I used RUFUS to create the boot drive but BIOS does not detect it.

Thank you in advance.

The short answer is going to depend on which kernel your version of Zorin is using. Usually, or from my experience, Zorin uses the Ubuntu LTS as the base. This means, if they are using 20.04.3 as the basis, it should work. I believe 5.11.* is the minimum kernel version needed for things to work. I would review the Ubuntu thread as you’ll most likely need to follow the same steps getting everything good with Zorin.

Just found out about Zorin and it looks REALLY nice. I especially like the Pro version they offer to fund their open-source development as well as the fact it has NVIDIA install options at setup like Pop!_OS. Now if only it also came with easy LUKS set up like Pop…

I just installed ZorinOS Pro on a Lenovo Thinkpad T460. It is really a nice mix of GNOME, Ubuntu and some extra features.

I’m not certain whats missing in the free ZorinOS Core version, but man… this is a nice distro. I really like it; for ME, it gives the Ubuntu that I love in a distro that seems really put together.

I’m gonna investigate the kernel, as this would be something I could live with. I’m trying hard to love the Frame.work…

First install of ZorinOS Pro, and wifi isn’t included… that should be an easy fix and I’m gonna keep moving thru.
