Is there a particular reason that the Windows key on the keyboard is in fact a “Windows” key rather than something more OS-agnostic such as, say, the Framework logo itself?

This should probably answer your first question:

Replace the Windows key with a Linux one or at least a generic "super" one

I remember reading that it’s mandatory if the laptop manufacturer wants OEM discounts for Windows licenses.
