3d Printed Expansion Bay Riser/Lip/Foot That's...More Comfortable?

Hey friends,

I use my FW16 on my lap pretty often and this is both kind of petty and also not unique to this machine but… the edge that runs along the bottom of the expansion bay module (both for the dedicated GPU and shell) is kind of sharp and uncomfortable on the ole walkin’ sticks after a short time.

I was wondering if anyone has seen or thought about a 3d printed solution that could serve as a sort of cap over the piece that’s a bit more rounded or comforable? I would love to print something like that, but sadly do not have the design/engineering chops to create one from scratch.

Anyone else find it to be a bit uncomfortable on the lap?

I hound this as well. Haven’t tried printing it yet:

Thank you! I would love the former design if it was compatible with the expansion bay shell, but alas :frowning:

I think I actually like the second one more, bulkier, but spaces things away from the ventilation slots better. I’ve had issues with my 13 where having it on my lap was preventing it from cooling efficiently (and feeling like it was burning my leg when I finally noticed).

I can feel my 16 sucking in my leg hairs when I use it on my lap with shorts on
Not to mention the second degree burn (blister) I received once because I was gaming in this fashion lol.

I think I’ll try printing out that second one.

Oh wow. This is the LAST laptop I would want to try and game on my lap with while it’s plugged in. Underneath the USB port supplying power it’s like a frying pan. Sorry about your leg!

I’d love to print this one, but it’s a bit too big for my printer :frowning:
