I wanted soft rubber feet that wouldn’t fall off and fitted the Framework 16 without the GPU expansion. Shared online on printables in case anyone else is looking for something similar. Plenty of other similar 3D printables too, this is just another option.
It doesn’t look like that clears the lid closing. If it doesn’t, it would be a very bad idea to use that on the laptop and you would be buying a new screen very shortly.
Also doesn’t work if you have the dGPU installed.
Correct on both counts. These are removable feet for when the laptop is in use to aid ventilation, definitely not intended to be used with the screen closed.
There are a bunch of similar 3d printable feet for dGPU expansion fitted systems available already. I don’t have the dGPU so needed some smaller feet.
The only significant differences between these and the other similar feet I tried are these are designed to be printed in soft rubber (TPU), and they can’t slide off until you choose to remove them.
Other similar feet I tried kept sliding off, and they were designed to be printed in hard plastic which I was concerned would damage the Framework case.
And thanks, I hadn’t considered someone might want to close the screen with the feet attached, just because that’s not how I use the machine myself. I’ve added a note to the instructions on printables about that.
The issue is that a laptop sitting out may be closed by someone without thinking. It may be fine for your use case, but it’s like balancing a glass of water on the edge of the table; it just takes one small mistake to cause a huge mess.
kinda agree with other 2.
Only needs some 1 at home or else where taking that laptop is about to flip over and they will close the lid and hear a big crack sound. So maybe include a sticker to be added on the bezel frame saying like “WARNING!: Do not close the lid while following laptop stan is in place on each side < —— —— >. Hopefully people reads it and then lets it be, but still a chance they don’t read it and still close the lid ![]()
