7700S GPU driver out of date

Any chance of an update to the AMD GPU driver?

The latest official one from October 2025 is throwing errors as being too old for Forza Horizon 6…

I just get the one off the AMD site, not had any issues to date.

While what @NEITG suggested can work it isn’t guaranteed to. AMD drivers from the site are very temperamental on Framework Laptops, for some people they work flawlessly, for others it breaks the whole system and requires reinstalling the whole Framework driver set. It very much works or doesn’t work on a case to case basis, which is admittedly odd since hardware is more or less the same between all Laptop 16’s. My recommendation is to have the official Framework drivers on standby to re-install if anything breaks after installing from the AMD software. If the AMD drivers do work than your set. If not and you start getting graphical and audio issues on your laptop than you can use the Framework Drivers to downgrade.

Edit: Also make sure to only update the graphics drivers (May be listed as AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition), NOT the chipset drivers.

To be completely honest I’ve been running them almost from day one (OG preorder batch 8) and it’s never been an issue.

I also run the AMD chipset drivers and again no problem.

Maybe I should buy more lottery tickets..

I tried the AMD drivers with my Framework 16 and Forza Horizon 6 and the game crashed first after about 10 minutes and then after about 2 hours. Both times I had to hold the power button to get the laptop to turn off, it would respond to key presses but would not open task manager, let me open any programs or shut down. They do not appear to be a stable option for me.

I had a lot of instability issues when I tried that when I first got my 16, so given my track record with weird computer issues over the years, yeah your luck is probably through the roof.

I’ve also been running AMD’s provided GPU drivers when I’m on Windows and I’ve had no issues with that. This is the first I’m hearing of that being a risky proposition.

This is what so odd and fascinating about the issue, is that it varies wildly on a case to case basis and no one can seem to figure out why it works for some and not for others. For my case my framework laptop always starts to get very unstable if I download both from the AMD app, but if I pick only one or the other it works mostly fine with the occasional GPU related crash. And yet a friend of my brother (he’s why I ended up going with a framework, my brother knew I was looking to get a new computer and asked the friend about his experience with framework) who also has the same model as I do has no issues with either and has yet to ever get any instability issues. I genuinely for the life of me cannot even begin to guess why this is the case as any possible reason I could think of simply don’t apply to mass produced pre-built pcs, but by user error when self building a pc.
