7700S TDP adjustment on Linux?

Is it possible to adjust the TDP on 7700S on Linux using LACT (or CoreCtrl or any other tools that allows you to control the TDP)?

I looked around and all I can gather is that it cannot be undervolted, which is fine, but I haven’t been able to find anything on limiting the TDP.

I’m considering on getting the 7700S module and my plan is to limit the TDP until I can grab a 240w charger, and then limit again during summer.

without a patch to the amdgpu driver, you aren’t permitted to lower its power constraints below 100W with lact even though that’s perfectly safe, and used to be permitted.

yes, this is dumb. no, the maintainers of the kernel module in question are not interested in putting it back the way it used to be. it’s also like a one line change, although i haven’t put in the effort to compile a custom kernel yet.

Well that’s unfortunate, I guess I’ll hold off on it and see if they’ll announce something in the next few months but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Time to look into an eGPU setup, I do have a RX 6700 XT lying around, as well as a PSU, so going down that route will save me some money.
