Was always planning to dual boot so have hdd in 3 partitions, windows, fedora and data.

Running Fedora KDE spin.

in dolphin i can view my windows C: drive and the E: drive i use for data.
When I try to mount/open the drives asks for password, first one i give my windows log in password. second log in give my fedora password (they are the same) but it errors and will not open the drive.

So far I have disabled fast boot and chkdsked both drives in windows.

Not sure what to try next?

I presume your windows drive is encrypted.
Your windows login password doesn’t work for decrypting a BitLocker drive outside of windows. I understand you need your BitLocker password or BitLocker recovery password. You’ll have to google where to find it in windows.

Unless you are doing very high security work, I would recommend just disabling BitLocker so issues like this do not occur. BitLocker is also known to severely hinder SSD performance (by up to 45%), so it is much better to just leave it off.

To disable BitLocker, just go to Settings and search up device encryption settings and turn encryption off. It will take some time to decrypt the drive.

Yup this all sorted it.

Thanks for the help

Linux can read BitLocker volumes these days. Therefore, if you’re going to recommend that somebody reduce their security: [citation needed], bigtime.

You can’t just throw false facts out like this to unsuspecting people and not back them up with actual data.

After all, if you’ve got a number like “45%” you probably have a citation.

Apologies for not pasting the citation. I was somewhat in a hurry so I forgot to post it.

Here is the source. Of course it may or may not be so accurate today.
