AI 9 HX 370 vs AI Max+ 395

Debating between going all out on a framework desktop vs getting an ai mainboard for my launch day framework 13. Obviously the AI max would be far more powerful than the AI 9, but I am curious about how much more powerful.

Anyone have thoughts or testimonials around gaming performance and local LLM performance for these two chips? Done any research already before I start to?

Thinking about Linux for this either way.

Funny you should ask… Will the AI Max+ 395 (128GB) be able to run gpt-oss-120b? - #15 by lhl

The benchmarks show the Desktop is 2.4X faster than the AI 9 370. Also, the Desktop should have ROCm support and the laptop probably won’t.

(not that ROCm matters much now … Both machines support Vulkan acceleration, and Vulkan is currently up to 10% faster than ROCm and a lot more stable … but hopefully AMD will address this).

Extremely helpful benchmarks you have done there, that answers the AI-side of the equation for me!
