Hi folks, I’m attempting to build a mini PC with the AI HX 370 mainboard and a dock.
While doing performance testing last week, I ran into random reboots until I connected a 100W power adapter. (Side note: It’s difficult to find docks which can actually supply 100W - some claim 100W, but they seem to be referring to the power adapter that comes with the dock, and only output e.g. 92 or 96W over PD).
After fixing that, I have also noticed my board won’t boost to 5.1Ghz without a battery. Even stranger, I can boost to 4.6Ghz while on a 92W adapter, but on 100W, I can’t boost any higher than 4.1Ghz. I haven’t found many others running the HX 370 in standalone mode, and I can’t find any documentation about what performance is expected when doing so, aside from an early email about the 7040 series.
It seems the best option if I want maximum performance is to build the mini PC with the battery connected, sort of defeating the purpose of standalone mode. Has anyone else run into this?
Running Arch Linux, kernel 6.16-7, BIOS 3.04 on an AI HX 370 mainboard.
