Is there a summary for what to do for us people with the following problem? Blog post maybe?
System becomes laggy.
CPU seems to drop to 400 MHz.
Seem to be thermal related, but it’s not overheating.
I’m on a new FW 13 AMD, running Ubuntu 24.04. Play a game, (drop into minecraft, for example) after 30 minutes to 3 hours the system may become very sluggish. Running btop the entire time shows the CPU frequency seems to gravitate down toward 400 MHz and not go up. CPU temperatures show 60C or so. Fans are not spun up at all (or not much).
Fixes if you reboot, but just happens again in 30 minutes to 3 hours.
What can be done? What fixes? I see lots of threads but they don’t seem to have any answers.
FW 13, AMD, 32 G ram, 1T ssd, “standard” expansion card set.
