I couldn’t find a good thread to nest this device under so … here it is … liquid cooled to boot
After my experience with my (now bricked, thanks to a BIOS update they released) GMKtec EVO-X2, I’m not interested in dropping this kind of money with a Chinese company….
Watercooled on a 120w part in a “prebuilt” is not something I consider a plus.
I watercool for fun and aesthetics or if it actually helps with performance, which I doubt that does.
Uff. What happened? Is that EVO-X2 dead beyond repear?
Personally, I agree, throwing something like 2000 EUR on a system from those Mini-PC brands is a bit of a gamble. It is less nerve breaking if you buy for example a 500 EUR Mini-PC from them.
There is no BIOS recovery mechanism on the EVO-X2, there are quite a few of us that are in the same boat. I have ordered a clip-on programmer (CH341A) for a last-ditch attempt to revive it. It currently powers on and does absolutely nothing other than spin the fan…
That’s pretty awful.
