I have been looking at similar spec laptops and definitely would like to purchase a framework 16 to support the cause but I would like to use the laptop as my daily driver. The only thing putting me off from purchasing is if there will be new speakers for the 16 similar to the 13 pro.
Much of the Pro 13’s speaker improvement I think will come from the fact that it moves to side ports rather than bottom ports. That required a new case. But the FWL16 hasn’t been out long enough to warrant a whole redesign of the case. Casting molds are obscenely expensive, you have to get your money out of one before moving beyond.
The speakers are actually quit good for such a thin base. I just didn’t like their version of sound in Linux and used EasyEffects To fine tune them over 2~3 weeks to my liking. They are at least as good as my older Lenovo Legion 17’ Laptop which has a far thicker base. At least for me, the speakers don’t require upgrading.
I have to say, EasyEffects is almost required to make it the speakers sound good. The sad thing is, the speakers are capable, just not tuned very well. So the out of the box experience for the sound is lackluster.
So my wish wouldn’t necessarily be new/better speakers, but just better tuned ones out the box. And I have no idea what Windows users have to do to make them sound good.
