Auto-rotate and accelerometer

Will the FW12 have an accelerometer for auto-rotate in tablet mode?

Yes, some of the review videos show this.

I hope these sensors are accessible through software.

The NixOS hardware support (which was committed by a Framework employee about a month ago) includes an option to enable orientation sensor support https://github.com/NixOS/nixos-hardware/blob/1552a9f4513f3f0ceedcf90320e48d3d47165712/framework/12-inch/common/default.nix#L18. This sets up iio-sensor-proxy https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/hadess/iio-sensor-proxy/ which should make display auto rotation work at least in Gnome. Other desktops will probably need a bit more configuration? for example here I found integration for Sway https://github.com/okeri/iio-sway.

Anyone know how to set this up with windows? As checking under display settings I do not see this.

For me, this didn’t require any special setup. I installed Windows and auto-rotate just worked.

Oh interesting. I can’t find auto rotate under the display settings at all tbh so I am a bit stuck.

Hey Pierre, have you installed the “driver bundle”?

Ahhhh only the wifi drivers for installation not all the rest. Thanks for catching that.

Cool, let us know if that fixed it. Oh, and welcome to the community!

Ah, good catch! That totally slipped my mind.

I’m betting that will solve the issue (and probably some others you hadn’t run into yet, lol). Hopefully that’s all it takes to get you up and running 100%. Cheers!

Thanks that worked & auto rotate now available & working.
I will also update the BIOS next as that link had it too.

Thanks again everyone for all the help with this.
