I am wondering if there is a separate battery extender BIOS update for AMD Ryzen 7 7840U w/ Radeon 780M Graphics series of 13inch laptops?

The latest official BIOS for AMD Ryzen 7 7840U w/ Radeon 780M Graphics supports battery extender. You can still limit the charge level manually by adjusting the “charge limit” option

A question; these updates will not come through the Update Managers, on for instance Linux Mint? They must be installed manually?

If you have gnome-software or software-centre installed, you can simply click on “updates” and the BIOS updates will appear, if available.

I am using KDE6 (Plasma) on 6.15.11-2-MANJARO. Is there any harm in doing

fwupdmgr refresh --force

fwupdmgr get-updates

fwupdmgr update followed by reboot

as documented here ?
