This is a general setting, not just Fedora or Linux, but would involve Windows as well.
Under Fedora KDE I checked the cards settings
It was still sitting under CN (China). This gives you wrong frequency bands, wrong power settings and other things incorrect for your specific country.
Even my Lenovo Legion 5 years old has the setting as “UNSET”
As an example: CN has the 2.4G band set to 20dBm power output where here in Australia we allow 36dBm for the 2.4G band.
These should be pulled from your router, might be worth checking that it’s set to the correct region too. I’ve just dealt with this with the Gl.inet Flint 3.

We have just discovert that my upper level router is transmitting CN country code.
I have manually set my Laptop to AU and locked it in. The router is a far bigger headache. Within the router there is an “expert” mode where it can be set and it already shows to be AU, but that is not what it is broadcasting. Worse, when I tried to set it, I got a warning that the secondary router might fall over and it runs some crucial devices that can not be re-routed.
I have to do some more research before attempting that.

Its worth it in the end. Conflicting country codes just cause headaches. I had a raspberry Pi fall flat regularly which led me finally to learning about WiFi country codes and how they interact.
Pretty sure it’s illegal to sell devices mapped to the wrong country, but who knows these days.
Well after doing some info gathering…its a known issue with ASUS and can’t be fixed permanent. They screwed up their firmware and never send a fix.
Quite a few people on the Net have the same issue and same as me purchased their routers in Australia. It got a weird software setup. So it broadcasts CN, but the expert settings has got country as Australia and it also transmits Australian channels that are not available in CN.
On mine, the power lead is definitely Australian plug and I know that the box was still sealed when I got it.
So no grey import.

Probably worth getting a refund and finding a different router. I find it insane that companies stop patching routers.
The router was manufactured in 2020. It might be a bit late for a refund 
I would have never known if I didn’t see some of the issues people were having and I checked mine out of pure curiosity.
CN is more restrictive regarding power output on some of the channels. At least its not sitting on Country: 00 which is the most restrictive power setting.
I would highly recommend always using AsusWRT-Merlin firmware in place of stock Asus firmware, the interface is the same with emphasis on fixes and enhancements. https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/

If your router is no longer supported by Asus / Merlin then I recommend FreshTomato FreshTomato – Alternative open source firmware for Broadcom based routers . This is the firmware I’m using to keep my 2013 Asus N66U in service and is feature rich including changing country codes as you desired. It is a little more advanced / complicated but has good defaults and solid documentation. Unlike Asuswrt-Merlin which only support Asus this firmware supports many Asus, Linksys and Netgear routers with support for some Belkin, Buffalo, D-Link and Tenda routers as well as a few others. Check the supported device list for each.
Both are solo dev projects done in their spare time so if you find their project helpful and are able to consider donating to them.
