I really like the RGB keyboards reactive lighting but I was thinking it would be cool if when I held down a key it would trigger whichever lighting effect I have it set to every time a new character is printed on screen. Has anyone figured out a way to do this?

You can reprogram the keyboard’s QMK firmware to do pretty much anything you want.
There is also this thread that will let show you how to reflash the keyboard with firmware that can communicate with OpenRGB
OpenRGB has simple lighting effects and capabilities which you can then extend with an application such as Artemis or Aurora RGB that communicate through OpenRGB which will let you do much more advanced effects like reactive keypresses.
