Debian 13.1 Trixie on Framework 13 (Intel)

I’ve been running Debain 12 (Bookworm) for 2 years with no issues. I just tried a clean install of Debian 13 (Trixie), and it appears that all the hardware is supported, and generally runs well right up to the point the CPU stalls with the fallowing error found in dmesg output.

rcu: INFO rcu_preempt self-detected stall on CPU

At that point I have hard reset the laptop, so I’ve gone back to Debian 12 for the time being. If anyone finds a solution/workaround, please let me know.

Thanks!

I don’t have a fix for you, I’ve been running Debian 13 Trixie since I got my Framework 13 AMD in January 2024. I kinda expect it would Just Work, but that’s a vague error message for a rare thing to fail.

Note that Trixie brought changes that include splitting up the firmware-graphics into firmware-graphics-intel, firmware-graphics-amd and firmware-graphics-nvidia which you will need from the nonfree repository. Make sure you’ve got all the firmware-linux{,-free,-nonfree} packages installed, too.

K3n.

Thanks K3n,

I’ll give it a try again this weekend. I now have spare nvme drive, so I won’t have to blow away functioning Bookworm installation, ‘til after I figure this all out.
