Display not recognized on boot-up before disk de-encryption

When I boot-up my Ubuntu / FW Desktop my external display is not recognized until after I enter my passcode for full-disk encryption. This becomes a problem as I have to type blindly until the disk is de-encrypted and the rest of the boot-up process finishes. Ideas for solving this?

Context:

  • Framework Desktop _AMD Ryzen AI Max 300 Series
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon Graphics
  • Firmware version: 03.02
  • OS: Ubuntu 25.04
  • BIO: INSYDE Corp / Version 03.02

I am plugging an external display into one of the USB-C ports on the back of the desktop (HDMI cable into adapter). I have also tried plugging in the HDMI cable directly to the HDMI port on the back of the desktop.

Potentially related: wireless mouse and keyboard are not recognized until after de-encryption. This is less of an issue as I can use a wired mouse / keyboard plugged into expandable USB-A and C ports.
