To be fair, desktop thunderbolt support has been pretty spotty forever and desktop 14th gen is barely any different from 13th.

Sounds exactly reasonable. Thanks for all the info to all. I personally am not going to cancel pre-order, commiting to the FW16 ;). The notebook is too good. And something will happen, either oculink compatibility (please!), or TB5 mainboard down the line.

A bit of a late addition to this thread, but I wonder if Framework could upgrade the USB4 firmware over fwupdmgr
as well as however Windows users update, so that we can utilize 80GBps USB4v2 speeds when the time comes. Thoughts? @Matt_Hartley
I highly doubt it. The Thunderbolt 4/USB4v1 controllers as well as the retimers were never designed for such a speed.

Razer released the Razer 18 which is a 14th gen intel, which comes with thunderbolt 5.
14th gen Intel? I give that about 6 months.
