Sorry if this has been discussed already but I can’t seem to find a dedicated topic on it, so here we go…
Has Framework or a third party even hinted at the possibility of an external enclosure for the 16’s GPU? I have a GPU for the 16 however I’m using the expansion bay for the dual NVME enclosure, and I think it would be cool to be able to use the GPU as an eGPU via Thunderbolt, even if it does take a slight performance hit.
I know that there are other eGPU options and have a couple of them, but I’m wanting to reuse the Framework module if possible as well.
I don’t recall if it was a dedicated topic or not, but I do know there was someone else looking for the same thing. Framework hasn’t made one and I’m not sure if anyone has been working on one. Having a way to reuse the GPU would be nice other than selling it to someone who wants one and doesn’t have one.
I do wait for the exact same thing. I hope this will be on the roadmap of this year… fingers crossed !
Actually same, I’m here waiting for a board to re-use the 7700S when I’ll upgrade.
As I said in another post, there are some devboards that adapt interposer → PCI-E.

I know that it is possible to DIY the thing. But I’m more on the wait for an official accessory for that (or a community made one that has been proven working great).
As for me, I won’t ever upgrade my gpu if there is no such accessory coming. I would definitively look for a standard eGPU instead.
I did see that at one point, but even if I got my hands on one of those it would require a PCIe thunderbolt enclosure and would end up being extremely bulky. Something where you could just take the whole expansion tray and slide it in would be ideal.
