Egpu disconnects FW 13 AMD

Hi All,

I recently got into the egpu scene and got a WKG-L19C70 egpu off Aliexpress paired with a Gigabyte 5060ti 16gb and a MSI 650W 80+ Bronze PSU.

I set it up and the install and set up was smoothless. But I have since encountered issues. While gaming, the egpu will randomly disconnect with the screen image stuck on the monitor while laptop runs fine and says egpu disconnected. Game crashes as well.
No error messages, no BSOD (had it only once), just disconnects.

I got some solutions off egpu.io that includes setting nvidia settings to maximum performance and also some registry edits but no luck. The cable that came was a thunderbolt 4 cable, so I even replaced it with a cable matters USB4 cable. But still the issues persist. The egpu will also randomly disconnect while not gaming and auto reconnect or sometimes not.
Laptop almost never crashes.

Windows 11, Bios 3.09, drivers updated from framework, nvidia drivers up to date.

Now I can’t say I know the exact solution for you, and my “helpful” comment here will not be as helpful as ideal. However, I was having issues with a 2060 Super and my eGPU, however, when I upgraded to a AMD 9070 it fixed most of my problems. It may be an Nvidia/AMD issue?

Not the most helpful reply from me either but I’ve no issues with an ADT link UT3G on my FW13 Ryzen 7640 (with Nvidia 3060). If you ultimately can’t fix it, check egpu.io for other people’s builds ( I saw like 10 people with framework based egpu setups) and pick an adapter that is known to work.

Alternatively, I guess search for info about your specifics adapter?

Maybe a silly question but have you tried using different ports on the framework?

Based on what I could find on forums and also egpu forum, it turns out to be an issue with the 50 series pcie 5.0 gpus not working well over pcie 4.0 egpu docks except one or two, atleast over USB4. I reached out to the egpu manufacturer as well and he said a few people have raised issues over 50 series gpus not working well and suggested to get a 40 series.
I actually ended up returning the egpu and went to build a pc instead.
