I’ve been trying to get Elementary OS (latest release) working smoothly on my Framework Laptop 13 (Ryzen 7040U), but I’m running into some major pain points:
Battery life is poor (idle draw ~10–14W even with TLP and CPUFreq).
Fractional scaling is missing or ugly, and UI rendering looks jagged.
Fonts/rendering don’t match what I’d expect from a native GTK environment.
Most tweaks (power-save profile, disabling animations, etc.) have minimal impact.
Has anyone managed to get Elementary usable (visually + power-wise) on this hardware?
Is it just not a good match for the 7040U yet?
Would deeply appreciate any config dumps, kernel flags, firmware advice — anything!
elementary OS 8.0.1 has been out for a month and has the latest Ubuntu LTS HWE kernel. I don’t think the 24.04.x base system is the problem. Pantheon is just slowly opening up to fractional scaling. That probably makes it a bad candidate for my incoming FW12 too =(
