I have a FW13 with Ryzen 370, Running Ubuntu 24.04. About once a week, sometimes more, the EC (Embedded Controller) appears to lock up. (Theory) The Keyboard, power button, and touchpad are all dead, but the machine is otherwise working OK. I can plug in an external KB and it’s fine. The only fix so far is issuing a reboot. If I issue a power down, then I have to open the machine and disconnect the battery to reset it. A reboot is the only fix, and this is super annoying! This is my second FW machine, and I had a lot of trouble with my first one too, the OG 11th gen. At this point I doubt I’ll buy another.
Yes I tried reseating the KB cable. It doesn’t appear to be physical, like jostling the machine doesn’t do it. It’s not a suspend wake issue. Seems to happen if I walk away for awhile then come back, screen is still lit, but all input is dead. It feels like the whole machine is locked up, but it’s just the input. All programs continue to run normally.
