Since the latest updates i’ve experienced that an external touchpad which is connected via USB is deactivated along the built in keyboad and touchpad, when in “flipped mode”.
The machine usually stands in front of me on a stand, with “upside down” body, upright display and external (USB) keyboad and touchpad.
Now, the touchpad gets deactivated in this position. Works fine when in “normal laptop mode”.
Also surprising: Another BlueTooth Touchpad keeps working.
Any ideas or at least anyone with the same experience, open for an exchange?

Also: when the laptop is used with closed lid on an external screen, the USB keyboard works, the bluetooth touchpad works but the USB connected touchpad starts and stops working with closed lid.
Totally makes sense for the built in touchpad but not at all for an external.
Since I could read out the usb-device I assume it is not on hardware level.
(I just quickly tested some $: cat /dev/usb/… )
In Fedora or Gnome respectively, you can switch on and off touch-devices which then would ignore them all entirely. Also the one connected via BT.
When switched on on Gnome, it takes input from the touchpad only when the laptop is in “laptop mode”. Not when the lid is closed, nor when the machine stands in “L”-position - Keyboard down, display towards the user.
Still I think it is smart from HW, OS or Gnome to ignore built-in keyboard and touchpad when facing down. But ignoring an external touchpad, not so much.
Also its puzzling me that it only ignores the USB touchpad. Not the BT one.
I wouldn’t swear on my life but I’m pretty sure it worked fine until a week ago, since some system update.
I now can toggle through laptop- tablet- and auto-mode and the internal input devices are switched on/off accordingly while the external USB-touchpad remains on.
