I have been having this issue since Fedora 41. Do you know if any developments have been made in regards to fixing this problem?
I found a bug that was closed a while back - I just disabled amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x410 from my kernel cmd line and I dont have the issue - ymmv
That’s a workaround, not a fix.
Disabling that removes the workaround…
The correct term would be to “remove” it from my cmdline - but, as I shared my cmdline above, you can see its not there.
So, in short, I removed the workaround, and I do not see artificating.
my cmd line (in my case on fedora 43 or 42):
[ 0.000000] Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=(hd1,gpt2)/vmlinuz-6.17.5-300.fc43.x86_64 root=UUID=zzz ro rootflags=subvol=root resume=UUID=zzz rhgb quiet
and I have the artifacts
so something in your CMD will change something…
what are your parameters for:
- amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xffffffff
- amd_iommu=on
- amdgpu.freesync_video=1
- amd_pstate=active
and may be if someone know a way to know if those parameter will be activate by “default”?
edit: in fact I don’t know if I have it with FC43 … can’t make it “display” now.
Answers in-line for each of the parameters
I had the same issue as you. I added all but the overclock and KVM related arguments and it looks like the artifacts are gone. I am on Fedora 43.
After more testing, I still experience said artifacts. This post has an older recording with the artifacts I am seeing, and they persist even with the added parameters mentioned above. Does anyone know what can be done about this, preferably not needing to disable PSR so battery life is not crippled?
For reference, my kernel parameters:
BOOT_IMAGE=(hd0,gpt2)/vmlinuz-6.17.5-300.fc43.x86_64 root=UUID=zzz ro rootflags=subvol=root rhgb quiet amdgpu.freesync_video=1 amd_pstate=active
