Framework 16 Won't Wake from Sleep

I’ve been using this laptop for over a year and a half now, but no matter the distro including windows I cannot get the laptop to sleep properly, it will sleep but I cannot get it to wake up, at times if I wait and wait and wait 5-10minutes I can get it to wake up, but in being in the middle of something it’s a death sentence and I just have to hold the power button until it shuts off so I can get back up and running.

Here’s a second report, I can pull any of these individual runs as well. I understand it says tainted kernel, but it’s acting like it always does, if there’s a distro I should test on I’m all ears, but this seems to happen on Arch, Mint, Fedora, Silverblue, Bazzite, CachyOS, etc.

Which nvme ssd make / model / firmware version do you have? It appears that it is causing the suspend problems.

I’ve also completely defaulted the BIOS

WD_BLACK SN850X 2000GB (Firmware version 620361WD)

That should be ok. I have a sn850x 1tb, and suspend works ok here.

I guess I could try the WD SN740 and see if it sleeps any better; typically I dualboot, windows has always been on the other and I was never impressed by any difference seen, but maybe windows was being windows, I’ll attempt that shortly and put the same OS on the other SSD

Are you by chance using the Audio Expansion Card? Is it possible that the suspend problems are related to it? I had that problem when the card crashed during suspend because any process using it would be stalled and the screen would not turn on because something was waiting for the audio card.

You can of course easily try this by removing the expansion card.

I thought it was the nvme ssds because of this error:
nvme nvme0: resetting controller due to persistent internal error
nvme nvme1: resetting controller due to persistent internal error

So, you have 2 nvme devices installed. Try removing the non sn850x one, and see if suspend works.

I will attempt both of these recommendations and report as to whether I see any change

SN850X ONLY
