Dear Community,
I just bought and setup a Framework Desktop with the AMD Ryzen Ai MAX+ 395 Option, 64GB LPDDR and the Noctua Fan.
I installed Bazzite (using the “Framework Desktop” selection on bazzite download page) and ran some benchmarks using the profiles “Performance” (140W Sustained) and “Balanced (100W Sustained”). The results were superb. In addition, I also updated to the newest BIOS/UEFI Version (03.05), installed an additional 80mm fan and adjusted the temperature and fan targets to my liking (in BIOS/UEFI).
Since I prefer the “balanced”-profile as a sweet spot between gaming and consumption/heat (100W sustained), I wanted to stick with that. Out of a sudden, it somehow only supplies 50W accross the board now. Only the “performance”-profile yielded the aforementioned 140W. Something or somehow, another profile called “balanced-bazzite” seems to conflict. I double checked with HHD to verify the TDP.
I reinstalled bazzite to see if it was a fluke. Again, first couple of runs, everything was fine. “Balanced” delivered 100W again out of the box. I went back to UEFI (using ujust bios as command), changed a fan speed a tiny bit - and after rebooting, “Balanced” fell back to 50W again.
Please bear with me - I am fairly new to all this and everything is selftaught. Is there anything that I miss - does editing anything FAN related in the UEFI also fiddle with TDP-Management, or is it something else? Every source I could find claims 100W sustained for the “balanced” profile, not 50. I can set 100W via HHD, but that reverts back to 50W again after reboot.
I tried some AI approaches, but as a bazzite newbie, this was quite overwhelming. Tuned, PPD, “Masked” (could not change anything) are some hints I stumbled accross.
Did you guys experience the same and/or have a solution to set 100W as TDP-Package, which remains after boot?
