Installing!

Edit: with 64GB of RAM I cannot use AMD Adrenaline.

Edit 2: Uninstall/Reinstall from AMD’s website using AMDs drivers fixed it.

I found I’ve run into this issue with my eGPU occasionally, on random chance, does disabling and re-enabling the Display adapter fix the issue?

I uninstalled and reinstalled but it seems to work fine now. I’ll edit my post above too.

Why not update RZ616 WiFi driver to version 3.4.0.1088,
Bluetooth driver to version 1.1039.0.451?
I download them from another H brand web page for AMD 7040 series notebook support,
and used from Feb.2025.

Does hibernation works at this graphic driver version? I had a 96GB RAM installed laptop and tried the newest graphic driver published by AMD last month, all works as usual, until I hibernated my laptop and boot again, the black screen problem went again. If anyone have tried this version of driver and will use hibernation function, please let me know that hibernation is working in this version or not.

We move this version to stable today. You can get it from the knowledgebase.

I note in the known issue for the driver bundle the following is still present.

Known Issues

  • On Windows 11 - Version 24H2, systems using more than 64GB of RAM may be unstable.

I take it this means the issue hasn’t been resolved around resuming from sleep/hibernation where the screen goes black due to the graphics driver crashing?

Alright! Win11 Dynamic Refresh Rate on the 120hz Panel is finally supported by FW supported drivers.

The most recent driver available on the AMD website may not contain this solution. However, this bundled graphics driver version incorporates the fix. We have conducted tests with large memory systems using this version and have not observed the issue. Your feedback on this driver is welcome.

We apologize for this. We are currently reviewing driver versions for each product’s components and will provide an update once complete.

I decided to install this driver pack since it’s marked as stable, if only to update the fingerprint reader. So far, my experience has been horrible.

While my use case is not a minority, using NVDA as my screen reader, I have never had this experience installing any drivers on other systems and on any other driver pack on my Framework system. Thirty minutes in, and my system is extremely sluggish still, barely responds, and what’s worse, I am not able to determine what it may or may not be doing. I think I’ll be manually extracting and installing things individually from now on, so I can at least determine what is causing such lag and unresponsive behavior. Or perhaps, simply stick with the old, don’t fix what isn’t broken.

I really hope Framework works on their drivers and general software/firmware support more than they have been thus far. Luckily, this is not my primary computer for daily use, and given this experience, I doubt my Framework will become a primary system for my use, which is rather sad.

A few minutes after writing this post, I received a report that it’s finally installing 9/9, some type of USB driver or some such. Unfortunately, I think the video drivers were probably my problem in slowing my system down drastically. And finally now, 37 minutes in, I can finally press any key to restart.

And a little over 2 minutes after pressing any key to restart, it’s finally rebooting. This is not impressive or consistent with any driver install I’ve ever had, which usually only takes a few minutes and doesn’t slow the system down to a crawl.

Luckily, when the system finally restarted which took another 2 minutes, it was perfectly responsive. But, just in case, I’ve completely shut it down and powered it back up manually. So far, still responsive, but this experience was definitely not desired.

Not all that important or critical… but this update seemed to change the Fn F12 Framework key in Windows. Someone on the discord chat mentioned it’s pointed to How to remove and install Input Modules - Framework Guides which is a guide on the FW16 input module guide.
