Framework laptop 16 firmware update bricked my notebook

That is a nice trick to recover this situation.

None of those diagonal lines are supposed to appear during a normal BIOS update. Did those same diagonal lines appear the second time, when the BIOS update worked?

So, when it happens, this is good and leads to a recovery:

1. Remove Power adapter
2. Open laptop and remove battery

This is bad:

1. Keep finger on power button until power off.
   Results in a bricked unit.

For me, holding the power button for several seconds didn’t do anything.

I successfully got my Framework 16 7040 mainboard unbricked after an interrupted BIOS update:

RESOLVED: I chatted with one of the volunteers on SalemTechspert’s Discord (shoutout to Sim!) and he confirmed my suspicion that the BIOS was corrupted and I needed to flash the BIOS using an external programmer. I brought my laptop to a local laptop repair shop, provided them with a copy of the BIOS bin file extracted from the EFI Updater shell capsule file using UEFITool as well as a copy of the BIOS bin extracted from the exe installer (the latter was built by Sim).
