Framework stylus on the 13 Pro

Will the stylus from the Framework 12 be compatible with the 13 pro screen? Will the full feature set work or only parts or none?

The Framework 13 Pro is touch only, it has no stylus support at this time.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

Thanks!

@Destroya also commented on this Reddit thead below. That’s opposite of the above statement. That’s weird.

Can you use a stylus with Framework 13 Pro? Like you can on Framework 12.

pro touchscreen is compatible with stylus.

It is not compatible with stylus, I am a victim of my phones autocorrect today, apologies. Edited the reddit comment. Pro touchscreen does not have stylus support.

Which camp?

Well, in this case I will wait for the 2028 upgrade to the FW 13 Pro+

@Destroya All right. I think it’s worth documenting that Framework Laptop 13 Pro is not compatible with active stylus pen like Framework Laptop 12, but it is compatible with passive stylus pen somewhere on the product page or a knowledge base page.

In my use case on Framework Laptop 12, I am using the active stylus pen to annotate and sign on PDF document files with Okular. I see it’s very helpful. I wonder that use case still works with the touchscreen on Framework Laptop 13 Pro.

Do some passive stylus pens work well?
I’ve only tried a very basic cheap one, and it was just completely unusable, skipped constantly.

You really shouldn’t. The matte surface is good for handling finger touches, but we haven’t tested with those types of rubber-tipped passive stylus pens.

Ah, I failed to consider the matte surface.
Perhaps a screen protector could be used. Never tried one on an already matte screen, I would hope that not an issue though.

I’ll be honest, since the 13 pro isn’t an origami format laptop, I would not expect the screen to take stylus support.
