Framework supporting far-right racists?

I think we all love the promise that framework brings.
No one wants to see it fail.
We do want it to succeed.
But for some of us, we can’t support a company that chooses to sponsor people who are actively racist, etc etc etc.

No one is saying that framework isn’t an amazing company.
Some of us just prioritise our personal safety as well, and that of others we care about.

But maybe it’s a good idea to look at all the participants of this topic and see if it really is the few.
I’d appreciate if you didn’t call us activist just because many of us have shared how we feel about the response from @nrp and what it inspired us to do. We’re just people who are tired.

Can you share any public links?

Can you apply a mastodon account and go watch yourself?

That would be a lots of link, if you pay me enough I will do it.

The activists are there en masse, and they are noisy, as is also visible above. But such noise doesn’t achieve much anymore, as the failure of the so called plan vert shows.

Plus, Mastodon is not really representative of where the money buying power is at.

The momentum for Omarchy and Framework is real, have a look in the corner of Primeagen.

Do you have evidence to back this up?

Yeah, the momentum of go downhill.

It gets talked about a lot. It’s not some obscure thing Framework had to pull out of a gutter somewhere. And knowledge about their racist exploits isn’t necessarily common. A lot of people might not have heard of these things, or ignore them…

The inverse of this statement is also true, depending on what circles you follow. I’d never heard of Omarchy until seeing frequent posts from framework about it, very shortly before this whole issue started gaining attention. I’ve heard far, far more about projects like NixOS (along with the obvious big players: Arch, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, etc). Those projects have been mentioned on social media far less than Omarchy has been, recently, that’s the weird thing I think a lot of people find eyebrow-raising. From that xcancel search linked by @Foxboron above, I see exactly, in total

  • 3 mentions of Debian (going as far back as 2023),
  • 3 mentions of NixOS since 2024
  • 34 mentions of Ubuntu since 2021
    • Along with one that specifically was retweeting to promote another project from DHH, for customizing ubuntu
  • 30 mentions of Fedora since 2021
  • 10 mentions of Arch since 2022
    • a few of which are mentioning it only in the context of explaining Omarchy
  • 7 mentions of Bazzite since 2024
  • 23 mentions of Omarchy since July 2025
    • nearly as many mentions as only 2 of the other biggest linux projects managed to achieve over years, in just a handful of months.

It’s just odd and uncomfortable, a very unusual pattern to fixate on one small distro so strongly, even if it weren’t for the controversial political aspects. It could very well be an innocent mistake, where they were unaware of the controversies, in which case they should just say that, and apologize, along with a pledge to do better going forward.

I would say telling people that they shouldn’t be boycotting or encouraging others to do so is a form of silencing.

I don’t see what the big issue is with acknowledging something doesn’t align with your values, not buying that thing, and telling others if they agree with you that they probably shouldn’t either. And no, mass deportations and trans rights are very high stakes issues, there’s a reason the political sphere have been talking about them as much as they have. These issues matter to people.

As if you just want to boycott.

No, clearly not. You want so much more: you want Framework bleeding, punished, cancelled, begging for mercy, caving in to activists.

I think if you’re saying stuff like this you need to realize you are coming into this with a whole bunch of preconceived notions that aren’t letting you discuss this in good faith.

Literally everyone here is contributing to the discussion because they care about Framework’s goals, no one wants to see the company go under.

We just want to see some indication that the company is committed to ensuring that the community remains a respectful place for everyone to take part in, which involves making sure they’re not actively promoting people who publicly spread hateful rhetoric. If they can’t do that, many people are simply saying they will vote with their wallets and not buy a framework. That’s all that’s happening.

I cannot get along with people who endorse and support people who spout racist and bigoted rhetoric and the people who spout such themselves, as cleanly evidenced with DHH, that is all

Then get away from them.

We are. We will not be buying Framework products, and we will advise those who share our values to do the same.

That is a wishful thinking cause the far-right clearly don’t want to equally co-exist with many minority people.

Evidence of that, showing that the people you regard as such don’t work with minorities like that for the reason of being part of the minority?

Go watch some Nick Fuentes you will get what I said.

So if framework decide to side these people we take our money and leave.

Why would I? I don’t care about him, I care about Framework

Will I provide the source of evidence you want and you refuse to seek, that is on you.

Correct. Go away and be happy.

Of course you are entitled to feel whatever you feel, and do as you please.

I disagree strongly that Framework is doing anything wrong here, but you are entitled to believe differently. I don’t care tbh.
