I feel that I should add that I was having the white boost screen issue when I tried to install the afmf 2 beta that was previously stable for me. That was the september 6th beta. So far no issues with my 64gb of vram on 24.12.1
Are you using a dGPU as well?
No dgpu, Igpu is fully functioning
Make sure to update bios before trying
That’s really interesting I thought the max ram that the 780M could use was 4GB, but you were able to allocate 8GB? Is that because you have any 64GB total? I have 32GB and 4BG is what 780M is seeing, unless I am overlooking a setting?
Are you on the latest BIOS and latest AMD drivers? Also do you have gaming mode enabled in the BIOS? It might be a new feature for 64GB and higher configurations.
Yes latest Bios version and latest AMD 24.10.1 drivers, but don’t see an option to set it to 8GB. I have total 32GB do i need 64GB to be able to bump it to 8GB?
I got the same message of 4gb for 24gb or higher. Just set it to gaming and boot er up
Ok set to gaming and rebooted but where do i check it is using 8GB for the iGPU 780M?
Task manager
Dedicated iGPU ram still showing 4GB. I must be missing a step or i need 64GB ram for it to show 8GB for Dedicated ram?
How many GB of system ram do you have?
32 GB of total system ram
Have updated to 3.05 BIOS and Windows 24H22, installing 24.12.1 just gets stuck on a black screen partway through and the fans spin really loudly. 24.8.1 still installs no problem. Tried direct install and DDU then install, neither worked.
Loud fans and black screen are the worst. Bummed out that this didn’t work for you. My install was migrating from a 24.8.1 to a 24.12.1 install. What processor and ram are you using so we can use it to hopefully help others.
7940HS CPU and for RAM Crucial 96GB Kit DDR5-5600 CL46
Same updated bios to 3.05. 24.12.1 same black screen as with everything after 24.8.1
I did install the 24.12.1 on my 23H2 just fine. But i did change the GPU Memory Settings in the UEFI to Gaming as Framework told.
On my Framework 13, I got the exact same behaviour as before, with black screens and fans spinning with 24.12.1.
However, switching the GPU to ‘gaming’ in the BIOS this time seems to have fixed it - and I’ve got a working computer on 24.12.1 now
I am still seeing only 4GB as dedicated to the iGPU in task manager and I have 32GB RAM and set to gaming modein 3.05 BIOS? How were you able to dedicated 8GB to the iGPU? I would like to do that. Thanks!
You don’t get 8GB Vram with 32GB Ram.
