FW12 Aggressive Battery Drain with Lid Closed Ubuntu

Which Framework Laptop 12 model are you using? (13th Gen Intel® Core™) (Isn’t this the only one?)

Lasts like 3h with lid closed. Feels warm to the touch, even with battery charged and white LED status.

Any ideas how to stop this? I want a functional laptop, and this isn’t functional in this state. It should drain a couple percent, not ~30%/hr

Is the LED solid white, or slowly flashing?

when lid closed, slowly flashing, more like pulsing.

I realized it wasn’t clear if you were referring to the charger LED or the power button LED. But power button LED pulsing means it should be properly suspended… What version of Ubuntu? I’m running Fedora 43 and my FW12 suspends properly with little power draw.

That sounds like it isn’t properly suspending to RAM on lid close.

Try going to the /etc/systemd/logind.conf file that has

#HandleLidSwitch=suspend
#HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=suspend

and make sure that’s how the settings are.

I also had some problems with keypressed while the lid is closed waking up the computer. Is that what’s going on?

Fully up to date LTS

/etc/systemd/logind.conf says

#HandleLidSwitch=suspend
#HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=suspend

But doesn’t # mean comment, so it’s not in effect?

Is that what’s going on?

I don’t think so. The light is pulsing like it’s suspending fine.

What kernel version? Are you running the HWE kernel? Framework recommends 6.13 or later for the FW12.

6.14.0-35-generic

Everyone else is having good battery drain with the lid closed?
