FW13 AMD 7040 LID close not registered with Linux

I have noticed, that the LID close event does not change.
While observing

/proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0/state

The state is always open. Observing the systemd-logind status does also not show any changes when closing the lid.

Already tested with two different distributions Ubuntu and Arch.

Also explicitly enabled the suspend option ind logind.conf.

Any ideas how I could narrow down the root cause?

I tried to observe the lid events with

sudo evtest /dev/input/event0 192.168.1.11
Input driver version is 1.0.1
Input device ID: bus 0x19 vendor 0x0 product 0x5 version 0x0
Input device name: "Lid Switch"
Supported events:
  Event type 0 (EV_SYN)
  Event type 5 (EV_SW)
    Event code 0 (SW_LID) state 0
Properties:
Testing ... (interrupt to exit)

without any luck.

I have the exact same issue. So wondering how to solve this.

Exact hardware model, Firmware and Kernel versions would be useful.

What exactly do you mean with ā€˜observing the systemd-logind statusā€™?

If not systemctl status systemd-logind, then what is the output of journalctl -b | grep systemd-logind after closing the lid, waiting a couple of seconds, and opening it again?

If that does not produce results it might be a harware issue. I assume you are using the latest BIOS version (3.05)?

Are events reported in /sys/kernel/debug/cros_ec/console_log (needs a recent kernel to be available) or ectool console?

journel -b does not show any event about standby or registering any events

This is since boot and closing the lid for at least 60 seconds.

This ist after 40 seconds of closing the lid.

What I have notized, Debian stable is working.

My current kernel version is: `6.10.10-arch1-1

This is also missing the lid events.

Very surprising. Could you check the differences in the logs and event dumps for both kernels?
Also which exact kernel are you using on Debian?

Unfortunately I donā€™t have Debian installed anymore, but the current version in Debian stable is also 6.10. Systemd-logind posted the ā€œLid closed/opened.ā€ messages on Debian immediately after closing/opening the lid. Other distributions did not respond at all.
