FW13 fn F9 hotkey unbiding with Super + P

Hi,
I know the issue has been raised elsewhere, but I wasn’t able to find a definitive answer.

I use FW13 AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series. When I want to set fnF9 (Display switch) as a custom shortcut hotkey, the system (Fedora 44, Gnome) interprets it as Super + P.

So I cannot use it as a different hotkey unless I am willing to give up Super+P shortcut, which I am not.

Is there a way of unbinding the display switch with Super+P shortcut (if so, how?) or is it just baked in keyboard/motherboard and cannot be changed? Thank you.

I could be mistaken, but Iirc the alternate functions are tied to the Fn#. Meaning, the easiest way to change Super+P, will be changing the Fn9 as well. If that acceptable, one of the existing threads on this has how to do it (via ectool).

If you want Super+P untied from Fn9, you could technically do that. But you’d need to get into modifying the firmware.

The Embedded Controller firmware is open source. So it can be changed. Most people just aren’t interested in getting into that.

That’s what I thought, thank you for your reply.

What a waste of a key!
