Whooooooot! Got an email stating that they will be shipping the laptops without the macro pads and then shipping the macro pads once they come in!

That’s disappointing. I canceled mine because they wouldn’t do that before.

Ouch that isn’t good at all

Was that email from support or a mass email?

I have the macropad on my order, but don’t have that email.

What’s even more depressing is that they’ve acknowledged the RGB Macropad issue and offered a resolution to get those orders moving while continuing to leave the Linux keyboard demographic out to dry. As part of the Linux keyboard demographic, I’m starting to think about canceling my 16 pre-order and getting a 13 instead. It’s in stock, about half the cost, fits in more bags, and has the added advantage of not being a “generation 1” product.

It appears to be a targeted support email so it may take some time before it gets sent to every order.

I’d set a cutoff date for either a satisfactory update on the Linux keyboard or for a shipping update if I were you. Should make it a touch easier to decide rather than sit here hemming and hawing.

(For the record, I’m sitting here with you waiting for my 16 w/ Linux keyboard.)

I just got it, but I’m not happy.

Hello,

We know you’ve been patiently waiting for your Framework Laptop 16 order and we sincerely apologize for the delays in getting it shipped out to you.

After review, your order contains multiple module/s that are experiencing manufacturing delays which are delaying your order from shipment.

The affected modules are:

  • RGB Macropad
  • Framework Laptop 16 RGB Keyboard - Clear ANSI
  • Framework Laptop 16 Keyboard - International English - Linux
  • Framework Laptop 16 Keyboard - Blank ANSI

To determine next steps, we’ll need your input to allow us to properly process your order. Listed below are the two options available to you:

  1. If you would like to keep your order as-is, please let us know, and we’ll prioritize your order for shipment once all required modules are brought into inventory. Please note that there is an expected delay of several weeks before it can ship out to you as we are still awaiting delivery of the modules listed above at our Taiwan 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) partner from manufacturing.

  2. If you would like to expedite shipment of your order to have it shipped as soon as possible, you will need to select a keyboard module not listed above and we will make this edit on your behalf. As for the RGB Macropad, we’ve decided to include, free of charge, two Black Spacers that will temporarily take the place of the RGB Macropad since all positions on the Input Deck must be filled for the laptop to be operational. You will still receive your purchased RGB Macropad as you will be prioritized for shipment as soon as it arrives at our regional 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) partner associated with your geographic location. Once we’ve successfully captured the final payment on your order, you will receive confirmation via email that includes all items configured for your order, including the RGB Macropad. Once you order ships, you’ll receive another email containing the courier tracking information. When the RGB Macropads are ready for shipment, as you’ve already paid for the module, the next email you will receive will contain the tracking information for this second shipment. We expect the RGB Macropads to arrive within the coming weeks.

We’re very sorry that it’s taken this long to address the supply chain shortage that held up the shipment of your order. As you are one of the earliest adopters of the new Framework Laptop 16, we hope that you are as excited to receive your new laptop as we are to get it into your hands.

    Regards,
    Framework Support

Which means I’m still screwed. I also ordered the Clear ANSI keyboard, which means I STILL CAN’T GET MY LAPTOP.

That is quite a long delay. Sorry to hear that for anyone else who is affected. I myself will ask support if “several weeks delay” is applicable for Linux Keyboard as well, in which case I will just change it to International English and put a Tux sticker on the windows key.

Yeah this was my email

Support might not be able to give you an estimate. Are you Batch 1? Did you receive any emails?

I also don’t understand this statement. Why can’t I use no input modules and a USB keyboard in the interim? Or did someone not think of that?

Ah. Well I already sent them an email now.

I am in batch 3, but the “several weeks delay” is too much for a keyboard with single key difference for me.

I would like to have to option to ADD another keyboard to my order, then have the clear ansi RGB one and the macropad shipped later. I have been exceedingly patient, but I do not like the either-or option that has been presented.

Same, I replied asking if that was an option, if not I am switching to a us keyboard and will order the clear keyboard later.

Why not just drop the Linux keyboard from the order and swap it out? Then just purchase the Linux one later?

Is replying to the email enough, or do I need to submit a support request?

@Destroya would you have an answer for this?

Not going to lie here… I am super angry that it took them about a month to acknowledge the extended delay on a product that was previously promised to be shipping by “early February.” As it stands, I likely wasted most of a month waiting on a part that could have easily been substituted with something else on shipping day zero. Overall, this period of radio silence and its stark contrast with several previous months full of supply chain and status updates has left a rather nasty taste in my mouth. :rage:

You can reply back to the email you have received.

You can bypass the input module checks in the BIOS, but on first boot you will have to short press the power button to bypass the initial check.
