GRUB2 visible then huge drop in brightness

I have a problem with display brightness right after the GRUB2 menu and before entering the cryptfs passphrase. As can be seen in the picture the display is really dark, sometimes not even visible (a normal screen is visible behind the laptop).

Any ideas?

Which Linux distro are you using?

Debian sid.

Which kernel are you using?

6.16.3

Which BIOS version are you using?

Latest (updated yesterday)

Which Framework Laptop 13 model are you using? (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series, Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 1, 13th Gen Intel® Core™ , 12th Gen Intel® Core™, 11th Gen Intel® Core™)

Ryzen 7640

Nobody got any hints?

GRUB2 is very bright,

then this screen is very dark,

after typing the password two dark lines appear, confirming the decryption,

then the rest of the boot is very bright again.

This is a bug in the kernel that has a fix: Making sure you're not a bot!

The latest kernel on fedora (6.16.7-200.fc42.x86_64) seems to have the fix in it as this is no longer a problem for me.

I’m facing the exact same issue on current 6.16.5-arch1-1and on older kernels (systemd-boot).

Applying the patch mentioned by @azdle fixes the problem. Many thanks!

EDIT: So does upgrading to 6.16.7 linux-image.
